AdvanStaff HR takes data privacy and security very seriously, and we know you do, too. We have partnered with The Work Number, an online verification service, to handle secure employment and income verifications.
Types of Verifications
- Verification of Employment (VOE). Employment verification is the most commonly requested type. It is typically used to grant credit or to provide employment history for pre-employment screening. This type of verification generally includes basic information about an employee’s job: employer name and headquarters address, title, employment status (active/inactive), and length of time with the employer.
- Verification of Income (VOI). The verification of income typically includes basic employment information about an employee’s job, employer, title, employment status (active or inactive), and length of time with an employer, as well as their income. The income information includes total year-to-date wages as provided by the employer. This type of verification is typically used for granting credit.
- Social Service Verification (Basic/Enhanced). The verification of income typically includes employment information such as an employee’s job, employer, title, employment status (active or inactive), and length of time with an employer, as well as income. The income information includes total year-to-date wages provided by the employer, historical pay-period wage detail (up to 36 pay periods), income, and deductions. If your organization provides benefit information for Medical, Dental, Vision, and Workers’ Compensation, then this information can also appear on the enhanced social service verification.

Employee Instructions to Authorize a Verification
Employees must initiate an income or employment verification. This protects YOUR data and gives you complete control over what is shared and who can access it, in a secure, protected environment.
We provide instructions in the Employee Portal.
Instructions:
- Log in to the Employee Portal.
- Main Menu -> Pay -> Employment and Income Verifications.
- Follow instructions.
Verifications take about 2 minutes to complete.
If an employee approaches you to handle an employment and/or income verification, we highly recommend instructing them to log in to the Employee Portal and follow the instructions in the “Pay -> Employment and Income Verifications ” main menu tab.
Electronic verifications take only a few minutes to complete and ensure safe and secure data access and transfer.
There is no cost to employees or to you, as the employer, to access the platform.
AdvanStaff generally will not provide employment and/or income verifications verbally, via email, or by fax. All verifications must be handled electronically.
If circumstances arise and an employee approaches you for expedited verification, you can access the employee’s information manually with your manager access and perform the verification yourself. Of course, your AdvanStaff HR service team is always available to assist with training or answer any questions you may have.

What is considered a Social Services Verification?
Social Services Verifications are used to determine eligibility for government-sponsored health and welfare programs such as SNAP (Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program), TANF (Temporary Assistance for Needy Families), Medicaid, and subsidized housing.
Social Service Verifications – How it Works
Various social service agencies manage economic programs that administer federal, state or local public assistance funds to certain families and individuals. An applicant’s monthly income often determines eligibility for these programs. Caseworkers must verify the applicant’s employment and income before providing certain assistance. The Work Number Social Services Verification helps agency workers determine program eligibility, track program benefits, support quality control, and investigate potential fraud.
As with commercial Verifiers (mortgage, pre-employment, financial services, etc.), social service agencies should be directed to www.theworknumber.com to help fulfill their verification needs. The website will instruct them on how to register to use the service. Once they are credentialed, they can use the same automated process that commercial Verifiers use to verify employment and income.
If an agency connects with you directly and/or manually sends you a form for completion, their request for information should be forwarded to The Work Number for manual processing. An employer can be set up with a fax number or upload hard-copy social service forms via The Work Number Employer Portal.
