Since inception, AdvanStaff HR has assisted every client employer with Form I-9 compliance and meeting federal obligations under the USCIS (U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services) regulations. This notice clarifies a procedural and administrative change to the existing Form I-9 completion and administration process.
Section 1 of the Form I-9 must be completed by EVERY employee no later than the first day of work for pay.
Section 2 of the Form I-9 must be completed by the employer or employer’s representative within three (3) business days of the first day of work for pay.   The hiring employer has the additional statutory requirement of reviewing the original documents a newly hired employee provides at enrollment and must complete and certify Section 2 of the form.
A fully completed and certified Form I-9 is required for any employee to be paid.
Generally, work-site hiring managers schedule newly hired employees to attend an on-boarding session at AdvanStaff HR.  The I-9 completion process is handled at enrollment.  The current process is to make and store copies of the original ID documents your newly hired individuals present during on-boarding process.

Form I-9 Policy Change effective Jan 1, 2019
Effective January 1, 2019, AdvanStaff HR will no longer make or retain copies of original identification documents presented by employees at enrollment.
AdvanStaff HR will continue to review and securely retain completed Form I-9s for enrolled individuals according to requirements outlined by UCSIS for compliance purposes.
If a client employer is enrolled in E-Verify, AdvanStaff HR will continue to comply with retention of specific copies of picture ID’s as required by USCIS.
