EEOC Offers Training Workshops on EEO Laws for Employers

On June 8, 2022, the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) announced that employers may begin registering for its new virtual training programs on federal equal employment opportunity (EEO) laws.

The EEOC, which enforces EEO laws, offers the new programs to provide technical assistance training to individuals who may be involved in handling employment discrimination claims for employers.

Private Employers

The workshops for employers in the private sector begin June 28, 2022. These courses are generally designed for human resources (HR) professionals, managers, supervisors, staffing agency representatives and similar professionals. Topics to be covered include, among others:

  • Pay equity;
  • Racial justice and systemic discrimination;
  • Civil rights and the pandemic;
  • Retaliation;
  • Algorithmic fairness and artificial intelligence; and
  • LGBTQI+ issues.

The EEOC Training Institute provides additional information, including course lists, agendas and pricing information, about these workshops.

Federal Employers

The workshops for federal-sector employers begin on June 13, 2022. These are designed for EEO counselors, investigators, special emphasis program managers and attorneys. The EEOC also offers courses tailored to federal managers and anti-harassment program coordinators. More information about these programs is available here.
